A Mountie in Surrey, B.C., has been accused of possessing marijuana and multiple firearms, and has been suspended from duty with pay while he is under investigation.

The criminal and code of conduct investigation into the four-year RCMP member began on Friday, according to police.

The officer's name will only be released if or when charges are laid, but police do not believe that any other officers are involved in the suspected crimes.

"The investigation into this matter is ongoing and is being pursued aggressively," Surrey Chief Supt. Fraser MacRae said in a release.

"Any time a police officer is accused of being involved in criminal activity, these allegations are taken seriously."
