A Surrey, B.C., municipal employee is at the centre of a joint RCMP and city hall investigation into unspecified allegations.
The employee was fired about two weeks ago after the allegations were made, Mayor Diane Watts told CTV News.
Neither the city nor the Surrey RCMP are releasing details on the focus of the investigation, or the employee's position with the city.
"Right now we're in the process of gathering all of the information and bringing in the necessary folks that need to undertake the investigation, so we don't want to compromise anything at this point," Watts said.
She added that she expects more details to be released next week.
