Surrey police say officers have arrested two men and seized a substantial amount of stolen goods following an investigation into multiple offences by multiple police units.

The seized goods range from luxury cars and expensive electronics to drugs and stolen credit cards.

The investigation – led by the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit in collaboration with the Metro Vancouver Transit Police and the West Vancouver Police Department – first began Dec. 3, following a series of alleged criminal offences involving a Dodge Ram truck.

The truck, bearing counterfeit licence plates, was found to be involved in numerous break-and-enters in West Vancouver, a failure to stop for police in Langley, and a theft of tires in Surrey, the Surrey Police Service said in a statement Friday.

On Dec. 5, 2024, officers simultaneously carried out two search warrants in Surrey after a suspect and two connected addresses were identified by the combined police forces.

During the first, carried out in the 9400 block of 173A Street, police arrested a man found in a Jeep Compass that had been stolen in Chilliwack and had a licence plate that was stolen in Surrey.

A further eight people were found within the home, alongside further stolen goods including 277 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 24 new, stolen tires valued at around $6,000, which had been stolen from a car dealership in Surrey, police said.

The Dodge Ram truck, stolen in Maple Ridge and used in the West Vancouver break-ins, was also located, alongside counterfeit B.C. license plates.

The eight people were detained and later released, the statement said.

During the execution of the second warrant, conducted at a home in the 10200 block of 159A Street, officers seized a key ring of “bump” keys used to break into locks, a stolen Apple MacBook laptop, stolen credit cards, equipment used to forge documents and a number of fraudulent documents, including credit cards.

The car key for the stolen Dodge Ram was located, alongside the man suspected of driving it, who was subsequently arrested, said police.

“By working collaboratively with our policing partners across the Lower Mainland, we were able to make arrests related to several alleged offences from West Vancouver to Chilliwack, recover and return thousands of dollars worth of stolen property, including two vehicles to their owners,” Sgt. Nigel Pronger of the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit said in the statement.

“We would like to thank our partners from Metro Vancouver Transit Police and West Vancouver police for their efforts in making all our communities safer,” he said.
