A 34-year-old snowmobilier caught in an avalanche in B.C.'s interior Saturday has died, police confirmed.
Gordon Molendyk, of the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP detachment,said the man succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at Kelown General Hospital.
The investigation has now been turned over to the BC Coroners Service.
Molendyk said the man had been buried in several metres of snow while snowmobiling near the Keefer Lake resort near Cherryville.
Vernon Search and Rescue, RCMP and ambulance crews were called to Goldpanner campground east of Lumby Saturday afternoon.
Molendyk said emergency service people at the resort and the man's friends helped pull him out.
Emergency crews administered CPR before airlifting him to the hospital in Kelowna.
The man's name has not yet been released.
