B.C. Solicitor General John Van Dongen is assuring the public that Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain system is safe.

He says the addition of turnstiles and better surveillance cameras at stations will go along way to help improve safety.

Van Dongen's comments come after an attack Friday night near Nanaimo station.

Police are looking for a man in his mid-forties who sexually assaulted a 27-year old woman.

The attack is one in a series of attacks on the system recently.

Safety concerns have prompted NDP MLAs Adrian Dix and Raj Chouhan to collect signatures Sunday on a petition to improve SkyTrain safety.
