Six people were stabbed in two separate altercations in Metro Vancouver Friday night.

The first incident happened at a Pakistani restaurant in Surrey, B.C., where a late-night snack erupted into a bloody street brawl.

Mounties were called to the restaurant, located at 76th Avenue and Anvil Way, at around 10 p.m. after four men were stabbed.

Investigators believe the two groups came upon each other randomly while dining at the Bengali Fish & Curry restaurant.

"It's not gang related," Insp. Randal Marquardt told ctvbc.ca. "It's two groups of males, a little bit of bravado got in the way and off they went."

A knife was drawn, Marquardt said, leading to a violent clash that sent four people to hospital with various cuts to the hands, legs, face and head.

The most seriously injured party had his neck slashed. He is currently recovering in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Marquardt said the two groups involved have vastly different accounts of the incident, and that there were no independent witnesses.

Luckily, investigators have tracked down surveillance footage of the fight.

"We're viewing video evidence now, which might give us a clear picture of what we're looking at," Marquardt said.

Police are currently interviewing one suspect, but no charges have been laid.

"We're just trying to nail down exactly what happened."

Metrotown Skytrain stabbing

A few hours later, Burnaby RCMP were called to the Metrotown SkyTrain station were two people were found with knife wounds.

Police say they're interviewing witnesses in both attacks, but so far no one has been arrested.

Neither of the victims' injuries are considered life threatening.
