A gunman opened fire on the walls and windows of an apartment lobby in Burnaby, B.C. Sunday night in what Mounties believe was a targeted shooting.

The shots were reported at 8 p.m. at a building in the 4300-block of Central Boulevard; no one was injured.

Cpl. Brenda Gresiuk said the intended target is known to police, but would not confirm whether that person is a resident of the building.

Gresiuk would not confirm the number of shots fired, but said that "just one is too many."

"It's very concerning to police. We don't care if it's 10 or 15," she said.

Members of the Serious Crime Unit and a police dog team scoured the area overnight, but were unable to locate the shooter. Investigators have not released a suspect description.

The investigation is ongoing.
