Victoria police says officers had to use a Taser to stop a man who was stabbing himself outside a courthouse Monday.
Police say the 51-year-old Saanich man had apparently just left a court proceeding when he sat down on a sidewalk and pulled out a large fillet knife.
As officers tried to get the man to drop the knife he began stabbing himself several times.
One officer used a Taser to jolt the man in order to get the weapon away from him and subdue him.
Police say the man was later taken to hospital and no charges are contemplated against him.
