Health Canada has issued a warning about plush toys imported by a Vancouver, B.C., company because they pose a choking hazard for young children.

The agency is recalling more than 3,000 magnetic plush animals made by Toy Land Company. The animals, approximately eight centimetres long, have magnets on their hands and feet that may come detached.

The toys come in the shapes of rabbits, lions, ducks, giraffes, and dogs, and have the item number Q5PT270 or Q5PT271 above the barcode.

Health Canada says the eyes on the animals can come loose and harm children if ingested.

A total of 3,460 of the recalled toys were sold at retail stores, including dollar stores, across Canada. The products were sold from January 2009 to April 2010.

No reports of injuries have been reported.

If you have one of these animals, the agency advises consumers to take it away from children and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Consumers can contact Toy Land Company at 1-800-668-6388 for more information.
