A small plane crashed into a row of trees near Penticton, B.C., just past noon on Friday during an emergency landing attempt.

Police say the plane, a Cessna 172, was piloted by a 35-year-old Kelowna man and had a single 28-year-old passenger from Thornhill, Ont.

The plane crashed down just metres away from the Apex Mountain Ski Resort, toppling trees onto the roof of one structure, before settling on its crushed left wing.

The owners of the condominium were not home at the time of the crash, Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said, and neither the pilot nor passenger was seriously injured.

"Both of the occupants basically walked away with bruises and sore muscles," he said.

The Apex Mountain Volunteer Fire Brigade and BC Ambulance personnel attended the scene to assist the crash victims.
