Pedestrian struck by car in New Westminster

Police in New Westminster have closed McBride Boulevard following a crash involving a pedestrian early Wednesday morning.

According to a release issued by the New Westminster Police Department, the pedestrian was struck by a car in the 300 block of McBride Boulevard. The driver remained on scene.

The road will be closed in both directions, between 6th Avenue and Memorial Drive, for several hours, it said.

With traffic backed up as far as the Bridgeview area of King George Boulevard, commuters are advised to expect delays and take an alternate route where possible.

“All the contributing factors of this incident are still under investigation,” said the release.
