A Nanaimo resident has been charged with second-degree murder in the alleged stabbing death of another man, Mounties say.

Gabriel Peter Stinson, 40, is accused of confronting and stabbing the 35-year-old victim, who has not been named, RCMP said in a news release Tuesday.

Police said the victim was found on the ground outside a housing complex on Sunday afternoon with stab wounds at around 1:45 p.m.

The man was immediately sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead soon after.
