As the Fraser River reaches its cresting point Monday afternoon, additional homes in the Prince George area have been ordered to evacuate in what has been declared a state of local emergency.
Meanwhile, the flood warning issued for the upper Fraser River at Prince George has now been extended to Quesnel, 120 kilometres to the south.
Seven more dwellings near Paddlewheel Park in Prince George have been added to the list of homes in danger, now totalling 19 on Farrell Street.
Prince George's city hall has been designated as the reception centre for evacuees. Residents are eligible for 72 hours of clothing, food and shelter costs through the provincial government's Evacuation Support Program, and will need to register for those services at city hall.
Some riverbank homes along Farrell Street near Paddlewheel Park were evacuated late Sunday afternoon when water levels reached 9.61 metres, more than two metres above the average for this time of year.
A flood warning also remains in effect for the Central and Southern Peace region, northeast of Prince George, as up to 80 millimetres of rain deluged the area causing floods and washing out Highway 52 between Dawson Creek and Tumbler Ridge.
