A manhunt was underway in West Vancouver Tuesday evening after two people were shot in a residential area of the city.

Police said the shootings did not appear to be random.

"The public should not be concerned at this time," West Vancouver police Cpl. Fred Harding told CTV British Columbia's Stephen Smart.

Harding did not immediately have any suspect descriptions.

Two men were shot just before 5:00 p.m. near 235 Keith Road. The injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.

CTV's Chopper 9 showed images of paramedics attending to a man and placing him on a stretcher.

Eastbound traffic along Highway 1 came to a complete standstill but was later reopened.

Police were searching the trunks of cars leaving the area.

Police dogs were also searching the area.
