One man is in hospital and another in police custody after a stabbing at a Surrey house party early Sunday morning.

Mounties attended a home near 138th Street and 68th Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. and found a 33-year-old man suffering serious stab wounds, Insp. Dave Attfield said.

Investigators say he was stabbed after a fight with another man at the party.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and treated. Attfield said his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

A suspect, who is known to police, was taken into custody. No charges have been laid.

The investigation is ongoing.
