Vancouver police are asking the public's assistance in finding a 68-year-old woman who went missing on Thursday evening.

Hiroko Kinugasa was last seen on Grouse Mountain at the Altitude Bistro Restaurant at around 6:30 p.m.

Police say she told witnesses she was going snowboarding, despite having a return flight to Japan scheduled that day.

Kinugasa arrived in Canada from Japan on April 4 and speaks little English. She was travelling alone, and has no known family in the Metro Vancouver area.

She is described as 5-5 tall with a slim build and black hair. She was last seen wearing a long black jacket, red scarf, black gloves, black boots and a white hoodie or toque.

Anyone who sees Kinugasa is asked to call police immediately and stay with her until officers arrive.
