CLEVELAND - Leland Irving made 26 saves as the Abbotsford Heat hung on to edge the Lake Erie Monsters 2-1 in American Hockey League action Sunday.
Colin Stuart opened the scoring for the Heat (7-4-3) at 12:04 in the first, and Mikael Backlund added one more in the second to put Abbotsford up 2-0.
David Marshall replied for the Monsters (6-6-0) at 16:15 in the third, but Lake Erie failed to send the game to extra time.
Tyler Weiman stopped 30 shots in the losing effort.
