One of the key instigators in the fall of B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell protested outside the Vancouver convention centre where a new premier would be announced.

Chris Delaney, from the group Fight HST, told a small crowd of protesters that the Liberal leadership race was turned into a farce.

He said thousands of Liberal delegates denied a vote because they didn't get a personal ID number.

He says the spectre of potential voter fraud looms over the leadership vote.

All four leadership candidates have said they support the HST.

Delaney calls that ironic because none of them would be running if the premier hadn't resigned over his government's implementation of the tax.

Delaney told the crowd the HST is killing the B.C. economy and hurting business and the new premier should call back the legislature to defeat the tax, instead of holding a planned referendum.

While more than half-a-million people signed the petition to get rid of the harmonized sales tax, only about 40 people showed up in the biting cold outside the convention centre to protest.
