Order of Canada recipient Steve Fonyo has found himself in trouble with the law yet again and this time he's going to jail

On Wednesday, Fonyo pleaded guilty in provincial court in Surrey, B.C. to two counts of driving while prohibited. He has now been convicted seven times for this offence.

A provincial court judge sentenced him to thirty days in jail.

He'll serve his time on weekends so he can keep his job as a mechanic.

Speaking to CTV, Fonyo was clearly resigned to his fate.

"So I took a chance of driving and I got caught so I have to suffer the consequences,'' he said.

Fonyo, who lost a leg to cancer when he was 12, ran across Canada on an artificial limb in 1985.

After raising $13 million for cancer research, he was so tortured by fame and depression that he turned to cocaine and thoughts of suicide.
