Soaring gas prices continue to drive the inflation rate across the country.

Statistics Canada says the national inflation rate didn't budge in April, sticking at the 3.3 per cent rate it hit in March.

B.C.'s rate slid marginally to 2.7 per cent last month from 3.1 per cent in March, but it still remains almost a full point above the Bank of Canada's two per cent target.

April inflation in Victoria matched the provincial setting while Vancouver was just one-tenth of a point lower at 2.6 per cent -- as both cities posted minor declines in the cost of living, compared to March.
