Fire crews battled a fire on Hamber Island near a popular area of Belcarra Saturday evening.
Property owner Christa Saito said the blaze was likely caused by partying teens.
"It's just irresponsibility by these kids, coming drinking, smoking leaving their garbage and with the hot heat this week it's just irresponsible and negligent on their part for this community and for the neighbouring houses that could catch on fire," she said. "Lives are at stake here and it's extremely dangerous."
Nearby boaters captured photos and video of the blaze Saturday afternoon. People on paddleboards and speedboats were just off the shore as the flames burned on the island and smoke could be seen throughout Indian Arm.
Candace Ribeiro was on a boat as the flames burned. She said she saw the local fire department and volunteers fighting the blaze.
The small island located northwest of Belcarra is privately-owned.
There were no reports of injuries caused by the fire.
