An eighth person has died from the H1N1 flu virus in B.C.

Ritinder Harry, a spokeswoman for the B.C. Centre for Disease Control, confirmed to ctvbc.ca Thursday night that someone from the Fraser Valley had died from the virus, but that an investigation was still ongoing to see if the individual had underlying health conditions.

She said she could not release any details about the victim.

A memorial page has been set up on Facebook for a 26-year-old woman from Mission, B.C., named Ashley Miller.

The Facebook page has a link to a local news story that says Miller, the mother of a 1 year old, was sick for about a week, and then died at the hospital. The story said she was suspected of having H1N1.

Attempts to reach Miller's family were unsuccessful Thursday night.
