The driver in a Christmas day car crash that killed a 15-year-old boy and injured two others is facing impaired driving charges.

Four people were inside the Buick sedan when it suddenly veered off of Highway 20, west of Anaham Indian Reserve in B.C.'s Central Interior, around 8:30 p.m.

The car smashed into a power pole before coming to rest in a culvert below the road.

Two passengers suffered serious injuries and the teen boy was killed. The adult male driver was unharmed.

RCMP say the driver is facing charges for impaired driving causing death and additional charges for refusing to provide a breath sample at the scene.

The driver has been remanded into custody until his first court appearance tomorrow in Williams Lake.

The names of the victims and driver are being withheld pending the Coroner's report.
