A drug detection dog has sniffed out 19 grams of heroin that was about to enter a jail east of Vancouver.
Correctional Service Canada says the street value of the drugs seized at Kent Institution in Agassiz, B.C., is $3,000, but they're worth $10,000 behind bars.
The seizure was part of a routine search to control the flow of drugs into jails.
The institution says other efforts to stem contraband include searches of visitors, buildings and cells.
Criminal and disciplinary charges have been initiated against the suspect.
