CTV British Columbia has been honoured with the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for the best international newscast for the station's coverage of the forest fires in West Kelowna last year.

The stations Sunday, July 19, 2009 broadcast was chosen over every regional newscast entered for consideration from outside the United States. That weekend, more than 10,000 West Kelowna residents were forced to evacuate their homes when a fire in the Glenrosa neighbourhood burned out of control.

From reporting at the front lines of the fire to providing the latest information for evacuees, CTV provided extensive coverage throughout the emergency.

It is the second year in a row that CTV received the award.
