The RCMP aerial recovery team has removed the body of a climber who plunged to his death this weekend in Squamish.
The unnamed man fell around 50 metres into a ravine Saturday on a remote part of Sky Pilot Mountain. The area is about an hour’s hike from the top of the Sea-to-Sky Gondola.
Two of the victim’s companions called authorities, but efforts to recover him were put off until Monday morning because of weather concerns.
His name has not been released.
Officials are warning anyone doing backcountry climbing to be prepared and heed warnings about going out of bounds.
