A commercial vehicle crossing the Huntingdon Border Crossing in Abbotsford, B.C., Tuesday night wasn't just carrying a load of oranges, authorities said.

It had 34 kilograms of cocaine.

According to the RCMP, officers with the Canada Border Services Agency selected a commercial truck and trailer for inspection. While examining the shipment of oranges, officers became suspicious.

They found numerous vacuum-sealed packages, which appeared to be soaked in transmission fluid and wrapped in blue shop towels, police said.

The officers examined one of the packages and found a white powder.

A 42-year-old Abbotsford man was arrested at the scene.

The commercial vehicle was then taken to a secondary area for a more thorough inspection. The RCMP Greater Vancouver Drug Section took possession of the cocaine.

Last year, border officers in the Pacific Highway District intercepted 310 kilograms of cocaine.
