The Vancouver Canucks will host the Ottawa Senators for the 2014 Tim Hortons Heritage Classic, the NHL announced Wednesday.

The teams will face off on March 2 for an outdoor game at BC Place Stadium, instead of the Canucks’ home at Rogers Arena.

The match-up will celebrate the historic 1915 Stanley Cup championship the Heritage Classic is named for, which saw the Canucks’ predecessors, the Millionaires, sweep the Senators in a best-of-five series.

The game will be the first ever held in an arena with a retractable roof, and the third regular season game to be held outdoors in a Canadian city.

It will also wrap up the NHL’s 2013-2014 Outdoor Games series kicking off in Michigan between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings in January.

The Canucks’ 2012-2013 season was cut short when they lost their chance at the Stanley Cup in the first round of the playoffs against the San Jose Sharks.
