B.C.'s tussle over the harmonized sales tax is being outplayed by the Vancouver Canucks.

For the second time in a week, planned telephone townhall meetings have been called off, to avoid conflicting with the Canucks' run in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The provincial government is staging a series of telephone call outs to inform voters about the HST and gather opinions about possible revisions to the unpopular tax.

Surrey and the Peace River residents were polled Wednesday night but Thursday's planned calls to homes across the Kootenays, Richmond, South Delta and Vancouver's North Shore have been postponed to a future date.

The evening calls, hosted by Finance Minister Kevin Falcon and one-time tax opponent turned booster, Transportation Minister Blair Lekstrom, would have come just as participants were settling down to watch Game One of the Stanley Cup series between Vancouver and the Nashville Predators.

The first night of calls, slated for Tuesday across parts of Vancouver Island and the South Coast, was delayed when it conflicted with Game 7 of the Canucks's first round series, and an alternate date has not yet been set.
