Homicide investigators say a body found on Bowen Island, off West Vancouver, B.C., does not solve the nearly three-year-old mystery into the disappearance of a Squamish teenager.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirms human remains found May 18 in brush on the island are those of a male.

Sgt. Jennifer Pound says the man has been identified, his relatives have been notified, and his death does not appear suspicious, so the matter is no longer being handled by the IHIT squad. The BC Coroners Service has identified his as 19-year-old Mitchell Gallivan, who went missing from Vancouver in October.

The body was found not far from the area where 17-year-old Jodi Henrickson was last seen after leaving a party on Bowen Island on June 20, 2009.

Despite several searches, her body has never been found, but Pound says the latest discovery is unrelated to the Henrickson case.

Homicide investigators have said they believe the teenager met with foul play and never left Bowen Island.
