A recall of beef products from an Alberta processor has been expanded again -- this time adding Co-op stores in B.C. and most of the rest of Canada to the alert.

A recall of ground beef processed and packaged by XL foods of Alberta was announced earlier this week because of concerns about possible E.coli contamination.

The initial warning covered chains such as Costco and Safeway in B.C. and four other provinces, as well as franchised stores of Loblaws companies, such as Extra Foods, Super Value and Real Canadian Superstore.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has not yet said how much meat is involved in the recall, but it notes there have been no reported illnesses linked to eating the ground beef.
