A base jumper has been rescued after crashing into the face of the Stawamus Chief mountain in Squamish, B.C.
RCMP say the jumper became stuck on a ledge about halfway up the 700-metre crag around 9 a.m. on Monday.
Search and rescue workers reached the stranded man Monday afternoon. Police said he did not appear to be injured.
This marks the second time in less than a month that a base jumper has crashed at the Chief.
A 27-year-old man was blown back into the mountain on July 15. Two rescuers had to rappel 120 metres down the cliff face to reach the ledge where he was trapped.
He suffered only an injured leg in the incident.
In base jumping, extreme sports enthusiasts use parachutes to jump from fixed objects. "Base" is actually an acronym for the four main categories of objects that can be used as a platform: building, antenna, span and earth.
