Another 70 B.C. firefighters are heading to northern Alberta, marking B.C.'s largest-single deployment of resources to another province.

A total of 611 firefighters have now gone to Hinton, Alta., to help battle raging wildfires.

Costs for the ongoing deployment will be covered by the Alberta government under an agreement that allows for the movement of firefighting resources across Canada.

Forests Minister Steve Thomson says the fire danger rating in B.C. remains low, allowing the province to support Alberta.

He says sufficient crews remain in B.C. if the local wildfire situation flares up, and the deployed firefighters can be recalled at any time.

Open burning bans are in place for some areas of B.C., and 100 of the 104 fires so far this season have been caused by humans.
