East Vancouver’s “Dude Chilling Park” park was the subject of late-night fodder in a Jimmy Kimmel Live monologue Tuesday night which included a report from CTV Vancouver anchor Keri Adams.
An artist, who Kimmel said has a “weird sense of humour,” updated the name of Guelph Park in November 2012.
Though the sign was initially taken down by city staff, it was reinstated and given a permanent home in the park after public outcry and a petition forced the Vancouver Park Board to reconsider.
Vancouver Park Board Commissioner Sarah Blyth said the new name is a welcome break from everyday stresses.
“I think we live in a relatively stressful world these days, so I think “Dude Chilling” brings a smile to people’s faces” she said.
Kimmel agreed with Blyth’s sentiment before declaring his new affection for Canada.
“Between Dude Chilling Park and Rob Ford, I might have to move to Canada,” Kimmel quipped.
