Education Minister George Abbott says parents of public school students should expect retroactive report cards documenting their child's progress since the start of the labour-troubled school year.
But the BC Teachers' Federation says Abbott has failed his labour law courses if he thinks work missed during a strike will be made up.
The war of words erupted yesterday as Abbott noted incoming legislation ending teacher's job action should be law by late next week, clearing the way for the first report cards of the year.
The minister says teachers should immediately start work on report cards and should send out details of grades not issued since September, but a release from the BCTF says Abbott is needlessly inflaming an already tense situation.
