Another person with H1N1 has died in B.C., bringing the total number of fatal cases in the province to four.

The Ministry of Health Services says this most recent death from the so-called swine flu involved a person who was suffering from a previous medical condition. No other details are known about the victim.

The death occurred between August 4 and August 10 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, which spans Richmond to the central south coast.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control says 676 people in the province have tested positive for the virus in the province, with an increase of 42 cases since last week's update.

Officials stress the majority of confirmed cases are mild and say the virus is spreading across the province in a similar manner to a regular or seasonal flu.

Last week, Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq said Canada will purchase more than 50 million pandemic flu vaccination doses for the upcoming season, with Ottawa picking up 60 per cent of the costs.

It is expected the manufacturer, GlaxoSmithKline, will begin clinical trials by October.
