Three handguns have been seized and two Americans were turned back at the Canada-U.S. border crossing south of Vancouver.

During a search of a truck on Wednesday Canadian officers at the Peace Arch border crossing found the three guns in a lock box under the rear bench seat.

The weapons included a Luger handgun and .38 Thunder Bersa - both weapons were loaded and have magazines that are prohibited in Canada.

The Canada Border Services Agency says there was no suspicion of criminal activity and the Americans were turned back to the U.S. after the guns were seized.

There were no children in the truck.

Border guards in B.C. seized more than 160 firearms in 2006.
