Saturday's fireworks performance is getting good reviews from visitors.

"Everyone was just so well behaved. Unbelievable," one fireworks visitor told CTV News.

The good behaviour is unusual, according to the West End's residents association.

"Normally with Saturday nights everyone battens down the hatches and gets ready for nothing but mayhem. But from all accounts, it was actually a calm and relaxed night," says association director Aaron Jasper.

Despite the crowd of 350,000, there were relatively few problems. Some say it's a sign that the family-friendly message is finally getting through.

Its good news for west enders, who have shared their neighbourhood with the fireworks and its side-effects for years. But, according to organizers, that could change.

"We are looking at the opportunity of linking in the HSBC Celebration of Light perhaps with something that would start on Canada Day," says spokesperson Sean Thomas.

That would mean a July 1 show, followed by three more nights of fireworks. And the kicker? It may be held at a new location.

"If we did that, the opportunity to perhaps do the Canada Fay fireworks where they've traditionally been done out at Canada Place in Burrard Inlet, is an idea, it's an option," says Thomas.

"If the celebration of light were to be moved to Burrard Inlet, the barge would be situated somewhere between Canada Place and the edge of Stanley Park

It could happen as early as next year.

"Logistically, it's absolutely doable," says Thomas.

This may not bode well for Coal Harbour residents -- who may prefer the noise and mess of the annual show stay in the West End.

Thomas admits the idea is a bit of a long shot. He personally prefers English Bay. But it is on the table, and organizers should make a decision by the fall.
