Freedom has been denied the man who killed his three children in Merritt two years ago.

Allan Schoenborn -- who was found not criminally responsible for the murders in February -- asked for a conditional discharge when he appeared before the B.C. Review Board today at the Forensic Psychiatric Institute in Port Coquitlam.

But the Board has refused to release him, saying Schoenborn continues to pose a serious threat to public safety.

Schoenborn then told the Board it had made the right decision, for both him and the public.

His case will be reviewed again in a year's time.
