A missing skier was rescued near Hope Sunday morning after spending a very cold night in the wilderness.
The man went missing on Zoa Peak Mountain near Falls Lake after he became separated from his group Saturday.
Dozens of search and rescue team members spent the night looking for the man and resumed their search Sunday morning, finally finding him at the base of the mountain.
Searchers said the man was well-equipped when he set out on the backcountry trip, but got caught in nasty weather.
“The last part of February and early March as we’re seeing now, we’re getting hit hard with heavy snow accumulation,” said Kent-Harrison SAR spokesman Adam Palmer. “It makes travel difficult so you’ve got to have a map and you’ve got to have a compass and know where you’re going out here.”
The man is reportedly in “good condition” despite spending the night in the cold wilderness, Palmer said.
