A Surrey bakery has been shot several times in the latest round of gunfire in the city.

Mounties say several bullets were fired through the window of COBS Bread in the 18800 block of Fraser Highway and 188 Street, just after 2 a.m. Sunday.

One worker was inside the bakery at the time but wasn’t hurt.

Witnesses at a nearby pub say the shots were in quick succession.

"I heard a bunch of bangs -- I was taken by surprise," one witness told CTV.  "It sounded like the sound of firecrackers, but louder than that. About six to eight shots perhaps, it was rapid fire. I was quite concerned about it.”

Surrey RCMP say at this stage it appears the shooting was random.
