A school bus full of farm workers had to be evacuated when it burst into flames on Highway 1 Monday.
The bus was heading eastbound on Highway 1 near the Mt. Lehman Road exit this morning when the engine caught fire.
All 48 people on the bus made it off safely and nobody was injured, according to RCMP.
Charges under the Motor Vehicle Act have been laid against the operator of the bus, including failure to complete a pre-trip inspection, and no insurance, according to Sgt. Paul Kent of Fraser Valley Traffic Services.
Investigators believe the fire was the cause of mechanical failure originating in the vehicle’s engine.
