A lengthy investigation into the death of a 14-month-old baby in Chilliwack has turned up no evidence of foul play, police announced Monday.

Young Alexcia Mckamey was found in medical distress at a home on Mullins Road in September 2013. She was rushed to hospital, but couldn’t be saved.

Police initially described her death as suspicious and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was called to take conduct of the case, but Sgt. Stephanie Ashton said their findings don’t support a finding of homicide.

The little girl’s family has been notified of the development, she added.

“They continue to grieve the loss of Alexcia. They have supported this investigation from the beginning and have fully cooperated,” Ashton said in a statement.

One man was arrested shortly after the baby died but he was never charged, and the details about his relationship with Alexcia were never made public.
