Homicide investigators have been called to North Vancouver after a body was found on Monday morning.

The body was found on a trail in the area of East Keith Road and Mountain Highway at approximately 10 a.m., Mounties said.

Police have provided few details, including a gender or age of the person found dead, but said that the cause of death is "considered suspicious."

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been called in, but the RCMP said there are no concerns for public safety in relation to the death.

More information will be made available through IHIT as the investigation continues, Cpl. Richard De Jong said.

A woman walking in the park on Monday told CTV News she was surprised by the police presence in the area.

"I'm sad to find out. Somebody's family is going to be affected this short before Christmas. It's not nice," Eleonora Scott-Iversen said.

But she said the majority of people she sees in the area are dog walkers, and she isn't worried about her safety.
