Police in Langley are investigating after a body was found Saturday near the Nicomekl River.
A man taking a walk on the 20700 block of 53A Avenue saw the human remains and contacted Langley RCMP, which retrieved the body with the help of the RCMP Dive Team and the Langley City Fire-Rescue Service.
Because of the location of the discovery and the nearby terrain, police have asked Fraser Valley Search and Rescue to assist in searching the area for evidence.
Police say they know the identity of the deceased, but will not release it or any other details about the case until the next of kin is notified.
Police expect a forensic autopsy to be completed early this week. Langley RCMP did not indicate whether the death was considered suspicious in a release.
