Mounties are working to identify a middle-aged man found dead in a watery ditch in Burnaby Wednesday morning.
The RCMP said a city maintenance crew found his body in the 7600-block of Willard Street around 9:30 a.m., but few other details have been confirmed.
An autopsy is being conducted to help determine the cause of death. The results are expected Thursday at the earliest.
Investigators aren’t sure how long the body was in the ditch, but said it wasn’t there on Tuesday.
They’re asking anyone who might know the man, or who heard or saw anything in the area overnight or in the morning to contact them.
The deceased is described as white with grey shoulder-length hair.
