Milk from a Chilliwack farm under investigation for cattle abuse is in circulation once again, the B.C. Milk Marketing Board confirmed Friday.
The board said a number of independent veterinary inspections at Chilliwack Cattle Sales indicated that animal welfare issues are being “appropriately addressed.”
“The board has made the decision that normal milk pick-up and delivery will resume effective today,” the BCMMB said in a statement.
Truckloads of milk from the Fraser Valley farm have already been sent to Washington State to be incinerated and turned into energy.
The board said all members of the B.C. Dairy Council, including Saputo, have agreed to resume taking milk from the farm. Saputo announced it was refusing to take milk from Chilliwack Cattle Sales four days ago.
Undercover video shot at the farm earlier this year depicted cows being beaten, whipped and kicked.
The disturbing footage sparked international outrage, and a petition signed by 100,000 people urging Saputo to implement a zero-tolerance policy for animal abuse.
