A teenage girl is dead and two others are seriously injured after being struck by a high-performance motorcycle near their high school in Surrey.
The accident happened around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on 128th Street, close to Princess Margaret Secondary, where the girls attend classes.
Two of the victims were airlifted to hospital, while the other teen and the motorcycle driver were taken by ambulance. One of the girls passed away from her injuries, while the others are being treated for serious injuries.
Footage taken from CTV’s Chopper 9 show debris scattered across the road, and a yellow motorcycle tipped over on its side on the ground.
There is still no official word on what caused the crash, including whether speed or alcohol could be a factor.
Members of Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service were expected to remain on scene into the evening.
Grief counselors have been brought in to the high school to speak with students about the upsetting incident.
