An early morning crash involving two vehicles on the Granville Street Bridge has left one man dead and another in police custody.
The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, but police are considering speed and alcohol as factors.
"It looks as though the green Honda was rear-ended by the Mercedes on the bridge," said Const. Brian Montague. "Looking at all the evidence that we see on the road there is some skid marks."
The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver of the Mercedes was detained by police.
Police say it appears someone witnessed the crash and left the scene. They're appealing for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
The southbound lanes were reopened to traffic shortly after noon.
