A Burnaby, B.C., youth has been charged after passengers on an East Vancouver bus were pepper sprayed Friday night.
Vancouver Police say a young man was traveling down Clark Drive at around 9:30 p.m. A verbal altercation erupted between the youth and other passengers, ending with the suspect allegedly spraying pepper spray into the bus as he stepped out on to the street.
The B.C. Ambulance Service was called to the scene to treat 10 people exposed to the chemicals.
Investigators say the suspect then ran to the Vancouver Community College SkyTrain station to escape, but was followed and apprehended by two of the passengers who had been pepper sprayed.
They held the youth until Vancouver Police arrived at the scene.
The Burnaby youth has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of possessing a prohibited weapon, and one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
